Susan Hilton began working in Optometry 30 years ago. Passionate about eye health and caring for her local community, she founded the business in 2004 by opening the Darwen practice, following 12 months later with the Adlington practice, then Westhoughton, 10 years after that.

We are a family-run, independent opticians, employing staff from the local areas. Our local communities are at the heart of what we do and are why we exist. With a loyal patient base, we have remained as an independent business, allowing us the time to spend with our patients, making their care and well-being the core of our day to day.

Providing both private and NHS appointments at all our practices, we love to welcome new patients through the door. With a reputation for excellence, we are the nominated retailer for some of the largest luxury brands in the world. Susan Hilton

BSc (Hons) FBDO Mc Optom

Susan is fully committed to the optical profession. Having begun as a receptionist at 16 years old, she first qualified as a Dispensing Optician in 2010, and then as an Optometrist in 2020.

Despite running a 3-practice Opticians business and a mother of 3, Susan also finds the time to work at East Lancashire Hospitals conducting clinical work for complex contact lenses and paediatric eye care; and is currently a Clinical Tutor at Manchester University in Optometry.

Supported by her family, and with two children working in the business, she regularly attends optical events and training seminars. This enables Susan Hilton Opticians to remain at the forefront of the latest technology and developments within the sector, allowing us to bring you the best eye care possible.

Susan still enjoys chatting to her patients and providing them with eye care each week.
